This was the first time Ted travelled overseas without his parents.
He was selected for the P5 Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) to Bangkok. Although Shanghai was his first choice, he embraced the opportunity with a positive attitude and looked forward to the experience.
For us as parents, it was a meaningful milestone. It was a chance for him to learn independence, take responsibility for his own belongings, manage his daily routine, and make decisions without Mum and Dad by his side.
His flight departed at around 9.30am, and he spent 4 days and 3 nights in Bangkok. During the trip, he visited museums, the Grand Palace, temples, a local village, and a school, giving him a glimpse into Thailand’s culture, history, and way of life.
He also took part in several hands-on art and craft activities, which made the learning experience even more engaging and memorable.
Most importantly, he enjoyed the trip. Beyond the places he visited, the experience broadened his horizons, helped him grow in confidence, and taught him valuable lessons that cannot be learned in a classroom.
As parents, we are grateful for opportunities like this. It is wonderful to see our little boy taking small steps towards independence and discovering the world beyond Singapore.
